MENTORING PROGRAM
TOMNET has been involved in the establishment of two youth mentoring programs with the Toowoomba Flexi School and the Toowoomba State South School. These programs provide leadership to the youth in a Grandparenting role through:
- being an a source of information
- listening
- teaching specific skills
- bridging the generation gap
- facilitating the learning process
- giving guidance and support
- helping the youth recognise their strengths
- participating in cross-cultural and multicultural educational programs
Those who participate in the mentoring program and work with children need a suitablility check by the Commission for Children and Young People to obtain a Blue Card. This can be arranged by contacting the office.
